There are precautions that every person can take to help prevent swine flu. Like the regular flu, swine flu is a virus that can be spread by contact with infected individuals. While there isn’t a guarantee that you won’t become ill, there are several things you can do to increase your chances of remaining healthy.
First, wash your hands often. This is the most important thing you can do to stop the spread of this and other viruses. Keep a small bottle of hand sanitizer with you at all times. This is alcohol-based, so it’s good to use when a sink isn’t available. Even if you do use this, continue to wash your hands with soap and water throughout the day, especially before meals. In addition to having hand sanitizer, consider also carrying around sanitizing wipes to use on things such as grocery carts or public telephones.
The next step in keeping yourself healthy is to avoid sick people. Of course some people who appear healthy aren’t, but by avoiding sick people you’ll be distancing yourself from thousands of germs.
